Here are some of the websites that I think are worth visiting regularly. Why? Because they measure up as resources that you can refer to again and again, especially if you want to live sustainably. If you'd like to suggest a link, e-mail me. Since I value quality over quantity, some links might come and go, so check back often, or sign up for the monthly newsletter and I'll keep you posted.

Food For Thought

Ishmael.org - If you've read this site's purpose, you'll know that Daniel Quinn's books were what first got me thinking about what it really means to live sustainably. Apparently, I'm not alone. At Ishmael.org, you can connect with other people who've been influenced (or angered) by his work, and even get in touch with DQ himself.

Amazon.com - "When I get a little money, I buy books. And if there is any left, I buy food and clothes" (Erasmus). This is where I get most of my books, because it's the easiest and the cheapest. I'm not anti-corporation, but I'm all for self-education. I believe that before you can really help make things better, you need to have a clear vision of what needs to be done, and books have been immeasurably helpful to me in getting my priorities straight. This link will take you to my little niche in the Amazon empire...

Take Action

EnviroEducation.com - Most of us who want to live sustainably want to work sustainably, too, and in some cases you need a degree to get a job that pays you to help the environment. This is a great resource because it guides you every step of the way, from choosing a career path, to picking a school, and finding a job.

GreenBiz.com - There are lots of businesses that are moving towards sustainability by changing the way they do things, and this is where you'll find them. Sustainably-minded entrepreneurs and job-seekers will also benefit from what this site has to offer.

PatternLanguage.com - Based on the classic book by the same name, this is a website dedicated to helping people literally build a sustainable future. There's a lot of potential in the field of "green" architecture, and websites like this envision a world where "green" is the norm...

In Practice

DolphinBlue.com - Here's a business that's actually walking the talk. It specializes in environmentally-friendly (and often recycled) office supplies. I had a chance to interview the founder and president, and he's living proof that it's possible to start and run a successful business that's environmentally responsible, too.
